I am construction a duplex house ( consisting of first floor and second floor ) with the ground floor left for car parking. We finished construcing the footing, plinth beam , raising by 4 foot with brick wall, filling with quarry dust and pcc. Now we noticed an offset of 4 inches between the two columns. The distance between the columns is 30 feet. is it advisable to crank the column that is away from the centre line by 4 inch or crank two columns by 2 inch. we havent done the starters yet for these two columns
please advise

my theise topic is design of multistorey masonry structures..in which i m going to design g+4 reinforced & unreinforced masonry structure..so can anyone guide me how to select the thickness of wall at the base level?

sanjay says:

If it is an RCC Structure , rcc beams are supposed to be designed to take load along with Slabs . At plinth level/ Gr Floor level plinth beams shall take the load and at other levels combination of beams +slab takes the load . And in such case where RCC buildings are designed ( which is true for G+4 Structure) with the system as mentioned above the peripherial or boundary condition walls should be 230 mm – 250 mm and partition walls should be 115 mm – 125 mm.
