Is structure engineering troubling you?
Do you face problems in solving even the basic problems?
If yes then look no further as engineeringcivil.com along with Er. Gobind Khurana and Er. Abhimanyu has taken an initiative to help civil engineering students in structure related queries. We are thankful to Er. Gobind Khurana, Er. Abhimanyu and Vincent T. H. CHU for being a volunteer in helping other engineers in solving problems related to structure design in R.C.C and Steel.

I have a problem solving a question on load balancing method in prestressing. I need to calculate equivalent load on concrete exerted by tendons. The concrete is for T section beam that has varying paroblic curves. Please, kindly help me on how to solve it.
1: What should be the column and beam size for G+2 25’X50′ house?
2: If columns & beams sizes are same on 2nd floor as on G.F then how can we hide the projection of columns & beams on 2nd floor because we try to raise 4″ walls, especially partition walls?
3: Can we use L shapes or T shaped columns in this house? and use 4″ thick at same brick size with is 4″ L shape column at corner to save space and avoid projection?
4: Can we use 4″x15″ columns on 2nd floor or what is the minimum size should be on 2nd floor?
I want to put a 40′ shipping container in an area that is existing dirt. I dug a hole to find sand stone 2 ft down. I want to know how far down I should remove the dirt and replace with gravel to support my 8’x40′ container weighing 15000#.
How to choose whether the beam is simply supported or fixed??
How to design secondary beam ( calculations)?
I am designing a Girder and using Steel I beam columns. Should the flange side of the I beam column connected to the load bearing Girder beams? Or the Web side of the column?
I am helping a farmer making bore well for him , for collection of water I am building 20’x20’x10 ‘deep RCC tank on 6,,,6″x6″ RCC ,5’above the ground pillars, and base and 4 walls are 4″ thick RCC , is this structure is safe enough > or should I increase the thickness of walls and base ?
if possible please reply to my e mail ID or time permits please call me
Thanks
Sir ,
Can you give me study material for silber kuhi system, design of prefabricated elements?
Hi pls clarify my doubt.
Construction workers are using waste oil mixing with cement mortar while laying weathering tiles, is this a right way? If so what is the use of the same ?
i have a question about who designs the parameters like footing column
example :- 200*200 size of a column
who says this and how
Can I build the 2 floor over existing structure with 200×200 mm size 8 columns and plot size is 13×30 sqft.
Sir, I would like to ask that if both tension and compression force acts on beam and let us consider simply supported beam then below the neutral axis why cannot we use lower grade of concrete because at the bottom to withstand tension we are already providing steel as there is negligible compressive force at the bottom. It will make the structure more economical.
What u suggest??
What is the best way of modeling, analysing and designing a double-decker flyover?
Load Carrying Capacity of Column 9’x12′ with 6 steel bars of 12mm according to formula Pu =0.4 fck Ac + 0.67 fy Asc comes out to be 720KN, Taking safety factor of 1.5 its 480KN. Since 1KN is equal to 100 KG appx., therefore load carrying capacity of column coumes out to be 48,000kg. Is this calculation correct or am I missing something.

A concrete pump is placed 45m from a building of height 50m. Tye placing boom projects 4m extra height over the building and it can reach a vertical height of another 25m with four 90° bends and three 30° bends. The average output required is 30m^3/h. The diameter of pipeline is 125mm. The slump of concrete is 70mm. Calculate pressure in the pipeline. Please explain clearly how to do this numerical.
