Hi Sir,
Please provide me information about good colleges in Mumbai offering Civil engg(part time). It would be a great help if you can sir. Also, please suggest me books related to the study of Ready Mix concrete Design.
Thank you in Advance,
Apurva
We are rehabilitating the railway line and are using prestressed concrete sleepers. The contractor is suggesting to us M55 with quite high cement content 530kg/m3. I have some doubts. I understood that M25 should be enough to bear 17ton axil loading. Could you advise. Thank you and kind regards, Khan
To S. Khan,
Just based on your limited information, given that M25 is good enough on strength requirements, I cannot see why this can’t be used, so far as it can satisfy minimum cement content for better durability.
I have an idea about planting plants in a series of platform constructed one above the other just like a multi strorey. as in hydroponics . how for it is possible give me ur valuable suggestion and web resources
sir plz tell me something about civil engg project ?
another querries ,sir i am pursuing civil 2nd yr,could u tell me ,what kind me mental preparation is needed to be a good civil engg so that i can prepare myself from now .what are the basic qualities a civil engineer must have ?
To tanmoy,
Engineers are usually specialized in a certain fields (e.g. geotechnical engineer). However, I can guarantee you that in real civil engineering world, you have to face all fields of civil engineering (e.g. transportation, structural, geotechnical) in day-to-day work. Please be prepared to be an all-round civil engineer.
sir, could you plz favour me to know @ strength of brick (CEMENT CONCRETE)& hollow block generally used in condtruction nowadays E/where,with requirement of material & mix proportion. if you can also povide mix design for interlocking paver block of strength M-20 /thanks or if YOU can guide me any manualbooks. i will be very thankful.
sir,plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz……….tel me abt civil engineerng………i alwaz aimed 4 ece….but i really don wanna be a civil engineer………im yet waitng 4 d councelling,…iz mech better or civil???????………….plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…gimme a reply
civil engineering is one of the most ancient and traditional branches of engineering.you might feel a bit uncomfortable but once your course gets started in civil engineering life becomes so easy as there are many opportunuties for the civil engineer.i suggest you civil engineering to ece…
Sir, i’m a 3rd year student of B.E.civil ,i’m given project of ‘Field surveys for road designing & planing’.
So,for that which main points are there to be involved in the project.
Thank you.
i’m final year student in civil engineering course. i have a final year project about ” common correlation of rock properties”
1-Log10 JCS = 0.00088 (?) (R) + 1.01 – equation of Schmidt / Rebound Hammer test
2- tensile strength = 10% UCS
i hope u can give me a suggestion about the idea how to conduct the project??
sir,
I’am a 2nd year civil engg. student from a private university. Will it be difficult for me to get a job later on, because of studing in a private university..??? how should i prepare my self to become an excellent civil engg…??? please help me….!!

Why steel reinforcement should be placed in staggered manner in case of double mat(top&bottom)
To Madhu
The reasons of staggered placement of steel bars in concrete:
(1) To avoid stress concentration for a given cross section.
(2) Too congested steel bars would prevent proper concreting nearby.
i am doing Diploma in Civil Engg. please suggest steps and guidelines how to do best in this field.
Hello sir …
I have completed BE (Civil) from Pune University & now doing M.E. (Structures).
For the project I required some recent topics on which i can make project.
Can u suggest me some topics related to structural engineering ??
Thanks
hello sir,
I am pursuing 3rd B.Tech(civil),i want to know what are the ways and means of preventing the destruction of structures due to the earthquakes whatever the magnitude might be?
To Mr Vincent T. H. CHU, Er Gobind Khurana and Er. Abhimanyu
I thanks you from the bottom of my heart as in today’s world when no one has any time for others, you three experts are taking time from your busy schedule to help solve the problems faced by engineers. Infact this is the biggest service you can do as you are solving problems of engineers which no one in class room is even ready to hear.
Moreover Mr Vincent T. H. CHU, I have read the questions and answers posted by you from your book and I must say you truly are the civil engineer of the decade for me as they all are explained so well that even a person with no field knowledge can understand. I hope you post more such questions and answers in future.

To Sitharam Reddy,
Thanks for your compliment!
In fact, you may take a look at my new publication “Mastering Different Fields of Civil Engineering Works” which comprises the questions and answers which I have written for over the past five years:
From Admin – We will update those questions and answers very soon on this website!
