Hello,
I have a project for school where we have to hypothetically build a structure on potentially unwanted geology. We have to build an electrical substation on unconsolidated silt and mud overlaying a clay-rich layer, along with a shallow water table.
We have to explain the potential problems, the solutions to building on this terrain and any future maintenance or issues that would arise from the unwanted geology.
As far as solutions, we have talked about the use of a concrete foundation on which to build the substation on and use piles to keep the foundation strong. Could you help with any other solutions we could imply such as to stop freeze-thaw cycles and future maintence?
