How rigid the joints of building build with the precast wall panels connected by single vertical rod passing through the shear key links from each connecting wall panel? would this be sufficient to protect the structure from earth quack of 7 to 8 rick scale? what shall be your general idea on actual workmanship of the joint & that provided in drawings(concrete strength, no of links dia of vertical rod etc) Pl reply…….

How can we test the precast building structure built form the precast wall panels & pre stressed slabs panels for the earth quack of different magnitude?

I am Inspector of Work for a ms water pipe laying project.

When I found that Resident Engineer prepared and certified monthly progress claims no 1 to 16, I have reported to consultant but unfortunately my contact ended a few days later. Final Statement/Backup calculation was revised later.

I would like to know is it corruption or so called fraud claim? The water pipe was handover to client and running now.

The consultant claimed that within 1-year of Defect Period they can revise the claim and shouldn’t be called it corruption.

May I know any action can be taken to those involved in corruption? I believe client, consultant and contractor involved together and there were many similar projects.

required strength of cube and calculation to find out strength of cube.

AdrianB says:

First of all sorry for my english. My question is : Can I cast shear walls, beams and slab at once ? (in the same time or in the same day). It is not practical and economical to do it in two separate steps. And if not, whitch are the reasons (concrete shrinkage ? columns bars disturbance etc etc.).
I know the UBC code construction recomend to wait until concrete from columns and shear walls is out from its plastic state.
Thanks in advance

Dear sir
Can you please tell me the difference between A.M.I.E. and B.E. ?

BIBEKANANDA MISHRA says:

A.M.I.E. is Associated Members of Institute of Members and B.E. is Bachelor of Engineering. After successfully qualifying Part- I & Part-II exams of A.M.I.E. you can get a degree from Institute of Engineers which is equivalent as B.Tech/B.E./or B.Sc.Engineering.

For free swell index test of soil-After taking samples in measuring cylinder with water is it required to shake or only air is required to be reomved by gently inserting a thin glass/steel rod. We are getting less swelling by doing this way compare to shaking vigrously the soil samples. Here I think it is required to give time to swell not to make soil in suspension. Because by doing this way false swell it will give. Pl give your suggesion for actula measurement

SATYA says:

suppose for a normal concrete mix workabilty compaction factor is 0.86,if i want to improve c.f. to 0.92,is it possible by adding certain admixtures like micro silica or fly ash?.If so pl.give the reasons.

Greetings!

I am a civil eng’g student doing a research paper regarding the behavior of concrete exposed to fire. The concrete we used is based on our country’s standard. I would like to ask on how can we evaluate the strength and what materials can we use to continue this research. Thank You
