This is regarding depth of exploration as per IS 1892-1979. As per para 2.3.2.1 Table 1. The depth of exploration for pile and well foundations should be to a depth of one and a half times the width of structure from the bearing level. What is width for a pile? Is it dia of pile or width of pile cap which is at much higher level?
