Hello sir,
I am final year student of BE civil i interest in old construction method & construction materials please give the clear notes in the topic.

A.prabakaran says:

hai….i am also interested in ur topic..generally the old type of construction is based upon two main concepts .. these are 1.construction materials 2.labours and cost
that materials are generally easy available from local areas like lime powder and broken black stones and water.today also we can use it but no owners want like that.today we can use the lime mortar by replacement of cement mortar..
thank u.

vishnu prasad says:

respected sir,
am a +2 student. i like to take civil engineering after my +2. but for now i dont know anything about it. i would like to know the good and bad aspects of civil engineering….if you dont mind say it frankly and may be i will be the one who wil change the world

Sankareshwaran says:

hey vishnu , it’s a good decision that you’ve taken. If you want to know the good of civil engineering, look at the other departments, they dont know what they are studying about, they cant understand the concepts easily, in that aspect our field is better than others. Its like, what we know, we learn to apply now. What we see we learn them now, and apply later. Here we are free to think on our own, apply our skills.

deepika says:

hi vishnu prasad,
we all know the fact, civil engineering is father of all engineering degrees, it has a lot of opportunities. what you want to know exactly about civil engineering.

abdulqahar pashton says:

hello sir
please tell me sir what is the maximum and munimum distance betwen steel bar in slab

Manivannan Raman says:

The most preferred spacing of rebars in slab is 150mm (6inches). However spacing of 100mm to 300mm are frequently used depending on design engineer’s preference within requirements of codal provisions.
Spacing is determined on design conditions such as on design moment, thickness of slab, size of rebar and other codal requirements (See IS 456 or any concrete design textbook for more information)

anand says:

125 mm

junde alesna says:

Base on ACI 318/and BS standard if the thickness of slab approximate 150 mm – 200 mm we can use top bar 10mm and bottom bar 12 mm with spacing both ways of 200mm , max concrete covering of 20 mm . based on one(1) unit appartment/penthouse , same in your IS
